This is a great idea, I love it! I'll have to find out whether there's something compareable to the disruption map here in Germany.

"and that in the rest of world, including the really poor parts, it just isn’t."

yeah here in Brazil we don't have schedules at all. trains in the "tubes" arrive when they feel like if they feel like. I guess I don't live in the really poor parts that have trains that keep schedules :)

Huh, that's rank. As far as I know and also perceive it, Munich's metro is on time for more than 99%, and it's almost always available, of course. And I don't know any such problems from Hamburg or Berlin, either. Deepest sympathy.

In Ireland the commuter trains only come every 15 minutes to 30 minutes... I'd rather have a tube train be late by 5 minutes rather than constantly be expected to wait for 15 minutes for a train.

oh you don't know how good you have it! ;)

Hmmm... someone should send this link to the tabloids/papers & BBC/SKY news :)
They could further this investigation ...etc.

Great work though.

Given the sheer size and breadth of the service the London Underground provides, and its age, then it's rather understandable that disruption is common and frequent.

I'd rather have a frequently disrupted service that still got you there eventually rather than a service that was limited in scope or service.

NYC has been getting worse. Since the shady organization which runs the system seems to have borrowed money from loan sharks, the whole thing is hideously in debt and slowly sliding into obsolescence, getting slower and dirtier, and yet mor expensive, over the last couple years. And just forget about the US's country-wide communter system, Amtrak, that's a disaster. Fundamentally, why is it so difficult for some places to maintain public transportation do you think?

Interestingly it appears that they don't consider a line disrupted if it's totally non operational, as was the case with the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines last weekend.
